We chose to do a study group for student parents where they could bring their children and focus on studying while we watched and did activities with the children. This gave the parents a chance to focus on studying for a little bit without being interrupted by their children. We chose this action because after doing our research and learning about the topic we realized how hard it must be to focus and get some study time in while taking care of your children as well as doing other tasks around the house. Campus Child Care sent out an e-mail to all of the parents letting them know about our event, giving them the opportunity to come and get some study time in. They included all of the information the parents would need and a link to the Facebook page that we also created. Below is the button with the link to our Facebook page.

For this event we really wanted to reach out to parent students who are overwhelmed, by trying to give them a way to study and not worry about their children for a little bit. We had several activities planned for the kids and there was plenty of room for parents to study while their children did activities. We understand that parents are busy and at the end of the day they want nothing more than to just go home and don't always feel like attending things, even if it could be helpful. We believe that our event was a very well developed idea and had the best interest of parents and their children in mind. We may not have been able to influence parents to come to this one, but we hope that hearing about a group such as this will encourage parents to organize study groups in the future at times that better work for them. The Facebook page has a some 'likes' on it so we will see if we can reach out to more people by sharing the page on Facebook.
We feel that other students should definitely take action, maybe not similar action unless they are students/parents who would like to form study groups with other students/parents, but students should take some type of action. They could be more aware and understanding that their classmates who are parents are dealing with a lot and already struggling to balance a home life and school, they could also help inform others of the struggles students/parents and working parents deal with by holding informational presentations or just talking to fell classmates. To take these actions they could talk to Campus Child Care, struggling parents that they know, as well as do a lot of research to help them understand the problem.
